New Delhi: Deepthi Jeevanji won a silver medal for India in the women’s 400m T20 category at the World Para Athletics Championships 2025 in New Delhi on Saturday, September 27. Para-sprinter Jeevanji clocked 55.16s to finish second in the women’s 400m T20 final and win India’s third medal on the opening day of the competition.

Jeevanji finished second behind Türkiye’s Aysel Onder, who won the elusive gold medal by smashing the world record with a time of 54.51 seconds. Onder was the favourite to clinch gold and lived up to the expectations with a stellar performance in the final. Jeevanji, a former world record holder in the women’s 400m (T20 category), gave her best, but failed to eclipse Onder.
