GLOBE, Ariz. — A shelter-in-place order has been issued for people in Globe, Miami, Wheatfields, Central-Heights, Claypool, and surrounding areas due to weather conditions.

Officials said rescue operations are underway in those areas.

"Residents in a safe location are asked to shelter in place as flooding has spread debris, including potentially Hazardous Materials," Gila County Emergency Management said.

A shelter has been made available at Lee Kornegay Intermediate School, located at 4635 Railroad Avenue in Miami.

"Residents are asked to avoid roadways and outdoor areas for the safety of the Public and First Responders", the agency said.

The Red Cross has set up two shelters for people who need a safe place.
