Convicted murderer Luke Mitchell has pleaded for support after his attempt for freedom was shut down by a parole board.

The 37-year-old killer lashed out at the board's decision on September 23, as they declined to grant an end to his sentence. Mitchell will remain behind bars for another year as he claims he has been left to "rot for a disgusting crime I did not commit".

Mitchell is serving a life sentence after murdering his 14-year-old girlfriend, Jodi Jones. Jodi was stabbed to death in a woodland area close to her home in Dalkeith, Midlothian, back in 2003, the Scottish Daily Express reports.

He was sentenced to serve a minimum of 20 years before he became eligible for parole. Mitchell penned the letter from prison, thanking his supporters for helping raise £10,000 so far to fun
