Five people are feared dead after a stampede broke out during Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay’s campaign rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday. The incident forced the actor-turned-politician to temporarily pause his speech as several attendees fainted amid severe overcrowding. DMK minister Senthil Balaji and the district collector visited the hospital to assess the situation.

As the crowd grew increasingly dense, several party workers and children reportedly fainted due to the pressure of the gathering, prompting Vijay to halt his address and call for calm while urging his supporters to make way for emergency ambulances to reach those in need.
