MADISON, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- A 26-year-old man from Madison was arrested on child exploitation charges.

James Fleckenstein was arrested on Sept. 25, by New York State Police on multiple charges: • Two counts of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child (Class D felony) • Two counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child (Class E felony)

The charges were a result of an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force search warrant related to the transmission of child sexual exploitation material through the internet, according to troopers.

Fleckenstein was arraigned in the Town of Madison Court and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 6 at 5 p.m.
