MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - Aqua Ohio has released a recap of its water rate negotiations and customers will see a rate increase over the next four years.
The average residential customer will see a 20.5% rate increase over that time.
According to the release, Aqua negotiates water rates with municipalities in Mahoning County instead of filing rate cases with the Public Utility Commission of Ohio (PUCO). The current agreement was negotiated in 2021 and is set to expire on December 31, 2025.
Negotiations were held in late July between Aqua and local representatives and an agreement was reached between the parties for a new four-year plan.
The plan includes increases between 5.00 and 5.25% each year for the approximately 24,000 customers in Mahoning County.
