Chris Davies says he had ‘a matter of seconds’ to pick Marvin Ducksch’s replacement after the Birmingham City striker pulled up in the warm up before Coventry.
Ducksch was due to lead the line for Blues for the second week in succession before feeling something right at the end of the warm up.
The German returned to the dressing room to inform his manager that he wouldn’t be able to play and Lyndon Dykes was summoned to start.
Dykes is the like-for-like replacement for Ducksch and that is why he got the nod ahead of Kyogo Furuhashi.
Explaining the incident, Davies said: “Marvin just felt something in the warm up. It’s not a good situation when that happens because suddenly everything needs to change and you need to change a player at the last minute.
