ST PAUL, Minn. — A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle overnight in St. Paul.
According to the St. Paul Police Department, officers responded to a report of an accident on Maryland Avenue East and Clarence Street around 12:45 a.m. Saturday.
Authorities say the driver remained on the scene and made the call to law enforcement.
Upon arrival, officers located a male victim who was neither conscious nor breathing. Despite life-saving measures, the individual was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver reportedly showed no signs of impairment. Police say he was cooperative and told officers that he was traveling westbound on Maryland Avenue, crossing Clarence Street. According to the authorities, the driver claimed he did not see the pedestrian and struck him.
