The upcoming action thriller The Rip reunites Ben Affleck with longtime collaborator and friend Matt Damon, as well as director Joe Carnahan, who previously directed Affleck in the 2006 crime action thriller film Smokin’ Aces. The Rip returns Carnahan to the cop thriller genre, where he launched his career with the powerful 2002 film Narc. In that film, Carnahan demonstrated an ability to add character and depth to the manic energy and style that defines his debut feature, the 1998 action comedy film Blood, Guts, Bullets, and Octane.
