CHICAGO – The Cubs placed right-handed pitcher Cade Horton on the 15-day injured list on Saturday with a right rib fracture (retroactive to Sept. 25). In a corresponding move, the club recalled left-handed pitcher Jordan Wicks from Triple-A Iowa.

Horton, 24, was removed after the third inning from his outing on Sept. 23 with back tightness. The rookie pitcher has pitched to a 2.67 ERA this season, including a league-leading 1.03 ERA since the All-Star break.

Wicks, 26, went 3-4 with two saves and a 3.55 ERA (28 ER/71.0 IP) in 20 games with the I-Cubs in 2025, all but four of which were starts.
