BUFFALO, N.Y. — Several Buffalo Police officers have been placed on paid administrative leave after an early morning officer-involved shooting on the city’s East Side.

Police say officers responded to a call around 2 a.m. Saturday on Donovan Drive, just off East Ferry Street, where they encountered a woman armed with a knife who was “acting aggressively.” According to Buffalo Police , commands to drop the knife were not successful.

Police say the woman then moved toward a group of people she knew and pointed the knife at them. One officer deployed pepper spray, but the woman continued to advance and stabbed a man in the head.
