These X-Men: The Animated Series characters should lead the way when the X-Men franchise joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe . Before the era of X -films, it was The Animated Series that made the franchise a household name for a new generation of fans, and these mutants deserve the opportunity to take center stage in the MCU.

X-Men: The Animated Series remains the defining version of X-Men for many fans, and the X-Men '97 sequel proved to be massively popular with old and new members of the audience.

As such, the MCU's X-Men should capitalize on that popularity by integrating classic Animated Series characters into its next live-action era
