BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A fire ignited Saturday at a Brownsville taqueria after a fryer exploded, the Fire Department stated.
According to Hector Martinez, Brownsville Fire Department spokesperson, fire crews responded to a kitchen fire at El Compadre Tacos, located at 3915 Southmost Road.
At the scene, crews saw the kitchen area of the restaurant on fire.
Employees told firefighters that the fryer had "exploded," causing the kitchen to catch fire, Brownsville FD stated.
Firefighters were able to save the building, but the kitchen sustained damage caused by the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
