GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — West Michigan Soccer, the area's new club set to start play in 2027, will be known as AC Grand Rapids.

The team, Athletic Club Grand Rapids, held an event Saturday afternoon at Calder Plaza in downtown Grand Rapids to connect with fans and make the big announcement.

MLS NEXT Pro announced last December that an independent club based in Grand Rapids would join the league starting in 2027. Dubbed West Michigan Soccer, David Van Andel and his family hold the majority stake in the team. Dan DeVos and his family hold a minority stake.
