WESTLAKE, Ohio – Bay Village police officers at 6:36 p.m. on Sept. 18 pursued a stolen Buick sedan along Dover Center Road in Bay Village into Westlake.

Bay Village officers soon called off their chase, but Westlake officers spotted the car driving recklessly and “short-cutting” the intersection of Dover Center and Detroit Road by driving through a car wash parking lot, according to a Westlake Police Department press release.

Realizing that the suspect, although no longer being pursued, was still putting the public in danger, the Westlake officers tried to stop the car. Again, the suspect driver ignored the lights and sirens of police cruisers and continued fleeing eastbound on Detroit Road. Within seconds, Westlake officers called off the pursuit due to public safety concerns.
