June Bunyan, a 37-year-old woman from Scotland, was murdered and dismembered in her Hollywood apartment earlier this month. Authorities say her husband, 25-year-old Jonathan Renteria, was charged on Sept. 25 with murder and mutilation of human remains. The couple had been married for a year and shared a 1-month-old baby.

Bunyan had moved to the U.S. from Scotland to become a defense attorney, according to a GoFundMe page created by loved ones. She had taken the bar exam and launched a paralegal business focused on helping lawyers protect non-citizen clients in criminal and immigration cases. Neighbors described her as “friendly, funny and really kind,” and said she was the most popular person in the apartment complex, ABC7 reported.
