NEW YORK — After the Yankees beat the White Sox on Thursday night, manager Aaron Boone wrapped up his postgame presser with a promise.

He’s not taking his foot off the gas with a division title on the table over the final weekend of the regular season, even after his team had already clinched a playoff spot.

“The pedal is down,” Boone said. “We gotta go try and get a win tomorrow. That’s how we look at it.”

So, why did Boone have four starters on his bench for Friday’s series opener against the Orioles then?

At first glance, the sight of Austin Slater and Amed Rosario in the Yankees’ lineup had some fans scratching their heads. José Caballero was starting as well, playing second base. Where were Trent Grisham, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Ben Rice and Ryan McMahon?
