KERRVILLE, Texas — Smith County Emergency Services District 2 is sending firefighters to Kerrville after the state of Texas requested additional help with disaster relief.

TIFMAS Strike Team 174, made up of ESD 2 personnel, left Friday as a Saw Module. The team is trained to clear downed trees and debris during large-scale emergencies.

The TIFMAS program allows the State of Texas to request additional resources during emergencies. There is potential for members to be redirected to other tasks in an effort to help with disaster relief, officials said.
