CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating two homicides Saturday.

The latest homicide happened on East Independence Boulevard around 4 a.m. Police said there was an altercation that lead to a shooting near the Safari Lux ounge.

“There were three off-duty officers working in an off-duty capacity. Those officers immediately responded and found three subjects who had been shot,” said a CMPD spokesperson.

Three people were taken to the hospital. Police say Shawn Davis II died there.

The second homicide happened at the Reserve at Stone Hollow Apartments near the Concord-Padgett Regional Airport. Police say Brenton Samuels, 31, was shot and died on scene. A second person was shot and is in the hospital.
