BURNT HILLS — In a game that was going to be decided in the trenches, the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake football team had to dig deep. Deep on its depth chart. Deep within the program. Deep within its chest of resolve.

Entering Friday night’s Week 4 clash at home with South Glens Falls, the Spartans were down a pair of starting linemen due to injuries, on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Spinning the carousel even further, one of the Spartans’ backup two-way linemen had also been injured during the celebration of the team’s first win last Friday at Columbia.
