LOUISVILLE, Ky. — GE Appliances reports that between May and July, 148 workers at GE Appliance Park in Louisville received notice from the government that their immigration status had changed and they would no longer be eligible to work in the U.S.

Dino Driskell, president of IUE-CWA Local 83761, said some of the work visa holders are part of their union. He and other union presidents are taking steps to help them during this time of need.

“A lot of them have sponsors here that they had before they even came here,” he said. “So they're doing things the right way. They're getting a work status, and then just recently, we've seen a lot of them have been revoked."
