The results mean that the Mets have retaken the last remaining National League wild card slot — at least temporarily — as the Reds gear up to take on the Milwaukee Brewers in the second game of the series on Saturday night. Advertisement

The game is one of two left in the season that the Reds have against the Brewers. The Reds are already coming off a 3-1 win against the Brewers from Friday night in the inaugural matchup of their three-game series together.

However, regardless of how the Mets perform, the Reds are still guaranteed to enter the playoffs if they can manage to win both of their two remaining games and sweep the Brewers.
