An updated weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 4:29 p.m. for strong thunderstorms in effect until 5 p.m. for Yosemite.
The storms could bring pea-sized hail (0.25 inches).
“At 4:29 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm near Tioga Pass, or 13 miles west of Lee Vining, moving southwest at 15 mph,” according to the NWS Hanford CA . “Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.”
Locations impacted by the alert include Sunrise High Sierra Camp, Tuolumne Meadows, Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp, May Lake High Sierra Camp, Snow Flat, Tenaya Lake, Tuolumne Meadows Campground and Tuolumne Meadows Visitor Center.
