We reported earlier that NC State’s defensive coordinator, DJ Eliot, will not be available for the team’s game against Virginia Tech. The program has provided a heartbreaking update in the matter. Eliot’s daughter, Drue Margaret Eliot, has passed away after battling cancer for 5 years. “Please join us in praying for DJ Eliot and his family during this time of tremendous loss,” NC State said in its post on X.

Drue was diagnosed with pediatric cancer in the spring of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic when she was just 12. At that time, DJ Eliot was in Kansas, serving as the defensive coordinator for the football program.
