ST. LOUIS — A redevelopment plan for the long-vacant Millennium Hotel site in downtown St. Louis was approved by the Board of Aldermen on Friday.

The measure covers the 4.2-acre property at 200 South 4th Street, which has sat empty for more than a decade between the Gateway Arch and Busch Stadium.

Alderman Rasheen Aldridge said the plan paves the way for mixed-use development that could create at least 50 jobs, boost tax revenue and reestablish pedestrian-friendly connections in the area. The legislation calls for sustainable design, architectural standards that complement the Arch, environmental cleanup and compliance with minority business requirements.
