Two people have been hospitalised following a fire at a north Brisbane apartment complex on Sunday morning, with police declaring a crime scene at the property shortly before 9am.

Emergency services were called about 7.45am to a Lamington Avenue apartment block in Lutwyche, with fire crews initially suspecting two or more units were ablaze.

All occupants were safely evacuated, and paramedics treated at least three people for smoke inhalation, two of whom were taken to St Andrew’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Neighbours said online that a helicopter was circling the scene, while police confirmed a crime scene had been established shortly after 8.30am.

Fire crews said the blaze was under control at 8.50am, and confirmed the fire had only affected one ground-floor unit.
