Two people — believed to be children — are dead and three others injured after a horror crash on Indian Ocean Drive on Saturday afternoon.

The collision occurred near Wedge Island about 2.30pm and resulted in Indian Ocean Drive being closed from Lancelin to Cervantes while emergency services were at the scene.

Th injured trio were taken to hospital but their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Early reports indicate that two cars were involved in a head-on crash near Wedge Island, with images from the 7NEWS helicopter showing a damaged Isuzu utility and hatchback.
