( 25News Now ) - After a 63-10 disastrous loss last weekend to Indiana, #23 Illinois needed to bounce back both in the win column and mentally, and they did so with a thrilling 34-32 comeback victory over #21 USC.
Luke Altmyer was 20-26 with over 300 yards passing, and two passing TDs, as well as a receiving and rushing TD. After USC went up 32-31 with under two minutes to go, the Illini drove down the field and David Olano hit the game-winning 41-yard field goal. They go on the road next Saturday at Purdue.
It was a big Saturday for Normal U-High athletics across the area. The Pioneers volleyball team continued their red-hot season as they swept all four of their matches on their way to the Intercity Tournament Title; Bloomington Central Catholic finished runner-up.
