Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele hit tight end Mason Mini on a 51-yard TD with 1:30 to play, and Luke Ferrelli picked off a pass in the end zone with 15 seconds left, sending California to a 28-24 victory over Boston College on Saturday.
Sagapolutele completed 22 of 34 passes for 254 yards and a score for Cal (4-1, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference). Kendrick Raphael rushed for 113 yards and a TD.
"I think that was the most positive lesson we'll learn from this game: We don't have to be perfect to win," Cal coach Justin Wilcox said. "We certainly weren't, but they played the entire game, literally down to the last play."
Dylan Lonergan, who entered the weekend leading the country in completions per game (30), was 21 of 37 with 197 yards but threw two interceptions for BC (1-3, 0-2 ACC). He did run
