A beloved Duarte tradition returned on Saturday, Sept. 27.
It was the return of the Duarte Route 66 Parade, followed by the annual City Picnic at Encanto Park.
“The City Picnic has always been a celebration of who we are as a community,” said Duarte Mayor Cesar A. Garcia in a statement last week. “With the return of the Route 66 Parade, this year feels especially meaningful. Together, we’ll not only honor our city’s 68 years of incorporation but also celebrate the champions who make Duarte such a special place to call home.”
The mid-morning parade traveled eastbound along Huntington Drive (historic Route 66) starting at Cotter Avenue and concluded at Bradbourne Avenue.
