No. 17 Alabama took advantage of converting 8 of 11 third-down plays to take a 24-14 halftime lead over Georgia.

Kirby Smart noticed.

"When it ended or the way the whole thing went?" the Georgia coach responded at halftime when asked by ESPN his reaction to the end of the half. “We can’t get off the field on third down. We got no chance of getting off the field on third down.

“They are executing better than we are playing. Their quarterback’s really hot and doing a great job.”

The Crimson Tide responded late in the second quarter to a Georgia touchdown with an 8-play, 75-yard drive in 1:34. The drive included a wild receiver screen to offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor.

“The end there, we didn’t play good two-minute defense,” Smart said. “They drove the ball down and made a big score.”
