A woman has been taken into custody following a unit fire on Sunday morning that put two people in hospital.

Emergency services were called about 7.45am to a Lamington Avenue apartment block in Lutwyche, with fire crews initially suspecting two or more units were ablaze.

Police declared a crime scene shortly after 8.30am and took the woman, in her 30s, into custody before midday.

Two people were taken to St Andrew’s Hospital in stable conditions for smoke inhalation, and paramedics assessed a third at the scene.

Emergency services said all the building’s residents had been safely evacuated.
