The teen was caught red-handed by the police in North Carolina on September 25, in Lee County, while attempting to collect money from a senior citizen targeted in a computer fraud.
Sources said the scam involved fraudsters posing as Microsoft representatives and convincing elderly victims that their computers had been locked.
They would then demand money to “unlock” the system. The victims, who were convinced, would hand over thousands of dollars in cash.
In this particular case, the victim’s bank sensed foul play and alerted his relatives and the police. The scammers, meanwhile, instructed victim to pack cash into box that would be collected directly from his home. When youth arrived to pick up the money, the police arrested him.
