A man died after he was recovered from a reservoir in Waterbury on Saturday evening, police said.

Around 4:22 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a report of a 30-year-old man who was swimming in the East Mountain Reservoir, located at 99 East Mountain Road, when he went under the water and did not resurface, according to the Waterbury Police Department .

Waterbury Police and Fire Departments, EMS and the Region 5 Dive Team responded to the scene to conduct search and rescue efforts, police said.

According to police, the man was recovered from the water and transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police have not identified the man at this time.
