STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Oregon’s defense, so dominant for most of Saturday night’s game, made a game-clinching play as the No. 6 Ducks knocked off No. 3 Penn State 30-24 in double overtime at Beaver Stadium.

Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman skied to intercept a pass by PSU quarterback Drew Allar to seal the win in the second overtime.

The play came moments after Oregon quarterback Dante Moore connected with wide receiver Gary Bryant Jr. on a deep crossing route, resulting in a 25-yard touchdown that put the Ducks up 30-24.

Thieneman’s heads-up read and reaction to the wheel route run by tight end Luke Reynolds ended the threat.

It was a statement as to the resilience of the Ducks, who blew a 17-3 fourth quarter lead, trailed during the first overtime, but found a way to win.
