LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Gumbeaux Gators are entering a new era in Lake Charles, as the Texas Collegiate League baseball team has been purchased by Ronnie Rantz, a former LSU pitcher and the current owner of the Baton Rouge Rougarou, another TCL franchise.

“I think it’s a diamond in the rough,” Rantz said. “I think the Gumbeaux Gators are poised to be the best franchise in the league, quite frankly.”

The Gators are looking to turn the page after a challenging season in which they managed just nine wins. Despite the struggles on the field, the team saw plenty of support from fans.
