Call for asylum seekers to get free bus travel in Bristol View 2 Images

Asylum seekers in Bristol and the West of England should be given free bus travel, because they have to walk ten miles just to report in with the police every week. That’s the view of Bristol MP Carla Denyer and the man in charge of transport in the city, who have called on the metro mayor to look at implementing a scheme.

Carla Denyer MP (Green, Bristol Central) and Cllr Ed Plowden (Green, Windmill Hill) have previously called for young people to get half price bus travel in Bristol to help attend school, college and apprenticeships. Now the pair have written to Labour metro mayor Helen Godwin to suggest adding asylum seekers to the list to get free travel.
