BELPRE – The Catholic Central football team bounced back in a big way on Saturday evening.

The Crusaders went on the road to Belpre and came back home with a 51-18 victory, improving their season mark to 4-2.

The Crusaders offense got off to a flying start and scored 31 points in the first quarter. Central led the game 38-6 at halftime.

Matthew Sprochi ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more, connecting on scoring tosses to Michael Fabbro and Zach Bryan. Matty Jones also threw a TD pass to Jonathan Hough.

Ryan Holzworth and Daveon Thorn each ran for a score in the win as well.

Joe Eitel’s unofficial rankings had Central in ninth place in Division VII, Region 27 following the win, remaining in a top-12 playoff position.

Central will travel to Oak Glen (4-1) on Friday night.
