BOZEMAN — Montana State wide receiver Taco Dowler motioned from the right slot to the left. Justin Lamson received the snap, faked a handoff to Julius Davis and found what he’d spent four-plus games searching for.

The Eastern Washington safety on Dowler’s side bit on the play action, while the linebacker covering Dowler — already at a speed disadvantage — briefly turned toward the backfield as if expecting a short pass. Lamson got good protection and fired a 45-yard dime to Dowler for a touchdown to put MSU up 21-0 in the first quarter.
