James Wood's solo homer capped a three-run seventh inning and the Washington Nationals rallied for a 6-5 win against the visiting Chicago White Sox on Saturday.
With Washington trailing 4-2 in the seventh, Nasim Nunez singled against Steven Wilson and Jacob Young followed with a homer to left. Brandon Eisert (3-8) came on to face Wood, who hit his 31st homer to left-center on an 0-1 pitch, giving Washington the 5-4 lead.
Wood's third hit, an RBI single in the eighth, made it 6-4.
Julian Fernandez (1-0) pitched a scoreless inning for his first Major League win and Jose A. Ferrer worked the ninth for his 11th save, allowing a run before striking out Chase Meidroth with the tying run on third to end it.
