STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Dan Lanning, one of the more aggressive coaches in college football, pushed the envelope to notch the biggest road win of his career.

No. 6 Oregon converted 5 of 7 fourth downs against No. 3 Penn State en route to a 30-24 double-overtime win Saturday night at Beaver Stadium.

It was the most fourth-down conversions in a game for Oregon over the past 10 years and the most allowed by a Big Ten team since Northwestern also went 5 of 7 against Illinois on Dec. 12, 2020.

“We went through the Rolodex today,” Lanning said. “Every one of those fourth downs mattered. We were going to be aggressive in this game. They were 3 for 3 on fourth down. Those extra two for us mattered in a big way in this game.
