UK households have been urged to follow a four-minute shower rule for £45 worth of savings. As the Cost of Living crisis continues, a brand-new energy price cap will kick in from Wednesday October 1 - making energy bills more expensive until Christmas .

The Energy Saving Trust, helpfully, has handy tips, tricks and ways to slash your bill. The EST says: "Upgrading your shower head with a water efficient one could save around £25 a year in Great Britain (GB) and £30 in Northern Ireland (NI).

"You’ll also save around 9,200 litres of water a year. Shortening the time that you spend in the shower will reduce the volume of water that goes down the drain, as well as saving you money on the energy used to heat the water.
