Udupi: In a breakthrough, Malpe Police on Sunday arrested three men in connection with the brutal murder of Saifuddin alias Saif, a rowdy-sheeter and owner of the AKMS private bus service, who was hacked to death in broad daylight at Salmar near Malpe-Kodavoor on Saturday.

The arrested men have been identified as Muhammad Faisal Khan (27), a resident of Mission Compound in Udupi; Muhammad Sharief (37), from Janata Colony in Karamballi, Udupi; and Abdul Shukoor, also known as Addu (43), a resident of Krishnapura in Surathkal.

The three accused were produced before a local court in Udupi after their arrest.

The investigation was carried out under the guidance of Udupi Deputy Superintendent of Police D.T. Prabhu. The special investigation team was led by Malpe Circle Inspector Ramachandra
