Airline says passengers can now bid for another seat beside them for 'extra space' View Image

Ever wish you could book the plane seat next to you for extra space? Now, that might just be possible. Virgin Australia announced last week that eligible guests can take part in its new 'Neighbour-Free Seating' scheme, giving them the opportunity to bid money on an additional seat.

Launched on September 24, the new service is currently limited to Economy guests on specific domestic or short-haul international services operated by the airline. Once a flight is booked, guests can submit as little as AU$30 (roughly £14.65) to bid on another seat in their row.

Virgin Australia explained that successful bids will be confirmed 'no later than two hours prior' to the flight's scheduled departure. Pas
