Dr. Ruth Sachie Matsuura, 96, of Mountain View, died Sept. 21. Born in Hanford, Calif., she was a pediatrician, widow of the late state Sen. Richard Matsuura, member of Puna Baptist Church, graduate of University of California at San Francisco Medical School, completed a Pediatric Fellowship at the University of Minnesota and was a missionary in India. Services pending. Survived by daughters, Marlene (Alan) Tamashiro and Caroline “Kui” Wong of Hilo; sons, Dr. Peter (Wendy) Matsuura and Stephen (Luanne) Matsuura of Hilo and Andrew (Sonya) Matsuura of Mountain View; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Matsuura of Mineola, Texas; 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
