Ryan Ward never got the call up to the Dodgers this season, so he spent his summer tearing up Triple-A pitching. For his efforts, the first baseman and corner outfielder on Saturday was named the Pacific Coast League MVP.
Ward hit .290/.380/.557 with a 132 wRC+ for the Comets this season, and led all of minor league baseball in home runs (36), runs batted in (122), extra-base hits (73), and total bases (315). He won PCL player of the week honors for the week of July 7-13 by hitting .429/.556/.857 with six extra-base hits, six walks, and six RBI in six games against Sugar Land.
Ward was also named to the PCL All-Star team as designated hitter.
Ward also hit 34 home runs in 2024 with Oklahoma City, then followed that up with five home runs for Team USA in the Premier12 tournament last Nov
