Phillies shortstop Trea Turner is expected to return to the lineup as the team takes on the Minnesota Twins in its regular season finale on Sept. 28.
The Phillies placed Turner on the injured list with a hamstring strain on Sept. 8. He took part in baserunning and fielding drills and took batting practice against minor-league pitchers in recent days.
Entering the final game of the season, Turner leads the National League in batting average (.305) and is second in hits (179) behind Luis Arraez of the San Diego Padres (181). Turner would be the first Phillie to win the NL batting title since Richie Ashburn in 1958.
In discussing Turner's expected return with reporters on Sept. 27, manager Rob Thomson said Turner is not expected to play the full game.
First pitch is at 3:05 p.m. and
