Actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has approached the Madras High Court seeking suo motu cognisance of the stampede that occurred during the party’s rally in Tamil Nadu’s Karur district on Saturday, Live Law reported.
The party, in its petition, claimed that there were “some conspiracies” at play that led to the stampede. The petition sought a suo motu investigation or a probe by an independent agency.
S Arivazhagan, chief of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam advocates’ wing, also told ANI that the party moved the court seeking that either the Central Bureau of Investigation or a Special Investigation Team carry out an inquiry into the stampede.
The case is likely to be taken up on Monday at the Madurai bench of the court, according to Live Law .
