In the Karnataka Dharmasthala case, complainant Chinnaiah appeared before the Additional Civil Judge and Judicial First Class Magistrate in Belthangady late on Saturday evening. He stated that the complaint filed in this case so far, along with both testimonies, was false. He admitted that he did this at the behest of certain individuals.

Chinnaiah is currently lodged in Shivamogga jail. His statement was recorded under Section 183 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The SIT had already arrested him on charges of giving false testimony. It was alleged that he had made false claims during the court proceedings on 11 July.
