A mass shooting and fire rattled the community of Grand Blanc on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 28.

The Grand Blanc Township Police Department posted to Facebook shortly after 11 a.m., saying there were "multiple" victims at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc. It also said the shooter is down and the building's on fire.

"There are multiple victims and the shooter is down" at the church, at 4285 McCandlish Road in Grand Blanc, the police department said. "There is NO threat to the public at this time. The church is actively on fire. For people on site, the reuinification site is the pavilion to the north. Offsite reunification will be at Trillium Theater on Holly and McCandlish. PLEASE AVOID THE AREA!"
